Are your perennial plants waking up this spring. Are they showing off their beautiful colors and leaves. I know they died last fall but they should be showing off their spring visual pleasures now. Asters in double blue, Bleeding Hearts, Bishop Weed, Bell Flower White, Arctic Queen, Daylily, Foxglove are so beautiful and come in many different sizes and looks. Rose bushes one of the most popular plant come in many sizes, colors and are a hardy winter plant. The colors are just awesome. Fruit trees as well flower are beautiful. Apples, Cherries, beautiful large Fig Tree leaves keep you in suspense… when are they going to produce their wonderful fruit. Evergreens withstand the cold weather and look amazing during the spring and summer.
Annual plants such as Petunias, Marigolds, baby blue eyes, bachelor’s buttons, there are so many to choose from that will make your garden absolutely fabulous. They will not only pleasing to you but your guests, friends and anyone who visits your home or Bed and Breakfast Inn will be saying how beautifully you have presented your property. If you have not started yet to make your garden fantastic get to it. Make a list of all the things you need, colors you want to put together, and plant. You will be so happy that you did this.

An Irish (St. Patrick’s Day) dish for you !!!
1 pound lamb cubed
1 cut in half a large onion
1 pound baking potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
1 large stalk
1 celery stick chopped
2 tlbs chopped parsley (fresh)
use salt and pepper to your taste
2 cups beef stock
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees In an oven proof casserole dish put in the lamb meat, onion, potatoes, carrot and celery. Add parsley, salt and pepper. Pourthe beef stock over the lamb and vegtables. Now cover tightly to bake. It should take 1 1/2 to 2 hours until vegetables and meat are very tender. The perfect St. Patrick’s Day Stew. Bartow Airport Restaurant to Begin Evening Hours
On Thursday January 19th, The Bartow Chamber of Commerce is having a ribbon cutting ceremony at Runway 9/27 Airbase Bistro – the restaurant, starting at 5:15 and the ribbon cutting at 6 pm. On the same day we will begin our new evening schedule. “We will be open for dinner every week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm and 9pm” said restaurant owner Tony Grainger. We have a full liquor bar so even if you just want a drink and an appetizer, Runway 9/27 is the place to be. We have the latest in video including a giant size screen. We will show the Super Bowl, and other events.
“We are having terrific success with Aviators!” Tony said. We are starting to get flying clubs in on a regular basis, and now the Airport Authority has decided that every Saturday, Runway 9/27 customers who have a paid receipt is entitled to a discount of 25 cents on every gallon of fuel purchased that day. So we believe that will attract a lot more pilots, and their friends to the Bartow Airport and Runway 9/27 Air Base Bistro.
The Airport has a great conference room facility that we offer and is available for very low rates. And, with Runway 9/27 doing the catering, this can be a very inexpensive way to get your audience motivated and it is tax free! yes, the IRS allows the full cost of any catered event . Not only is your audience appreciative, your accountant is as well!
The Airport Authority has been very cooperative with us. My personal thanks to Cindy who has really put up with a lot of growing pains from us, and we have received really good support from the tenants at the airport. We sincerely hope that in 2012 there will be many more who will want to work and eat at Bartow Airport.

Basil Baby Carrots, Baby Carrot Recipe, How to cook Baby Carrots
BASIL BABY CARROTS
I went to a friend’s house for dinner a number of years ago and they made these carrots and they were so delicious, and my young kids at the time just loved them and gobbled them up. They’re super easy to make, and absolutely delicious. And you know they’re a winner when you can get your kids to love their veggies!
I serve these carrots often at my house, but always at holidays with our Christmas Prime Rib or our Easter Cranberry-Burgundy Glazed Ham.
Enjoy!
2 lbs. baby carrots
water
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. dried basil flakes
Place baby carrots in a medium sized saucepan and cover with water. Cook on medium heat until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain water and add butter, brown sugar and basil. Stir until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
Serves 6-8

Now and then, it’s good for the soul, the relationship and the marriage to spend some time together – just the two of you – in a romantic setting with excellent and exciting food and delicious wine.
The Graingers at The Stanford Inn have planned a special evening for you and your significant other, called “Date Night At The Inn,” at a remarkably low cost of $24 per person. Date Night is planned for two nights only: September 10 and October 8, 2011.
The Chef has created a four-course menu that is both stimulating and delicious and includes traditionally romantic foods that will delight the palate.
Appetizers include a choice of scallops on half shell with mango salsa, brie and berries, roasted red pepper bisque, or potato pancakes topped with honey-smoked salmon and caviar.
Salad choices are Stanford house salad greens with mandarin oranges, almonds and craisins; iceburg wedge with bleu cheese and bacon crumbles; or fresh melon with basil cream sauce.
Whatever your mood, the two of you are going to be pleased with a choice of entrees: prime rib with horseradish crème and aujus; Stanford stuffed chicken (spinach, onions, red pepper, garlic, pine nuts, crème and bleu cheese); or Gulf coast group (blackened, grilled or fried). Side items include baked potato (regular or sweet), fire roasted corn, yellow rice, steamed veggies or honey glazed carrots.
For dessert, order two from a choice of warm caramel apple bread pudding (you HAVE to try this!), turtle cheesecake or chocolate fondue with fruit.
To make the evening complete, your hosts Becky and Tony Grainger will provide complimentary wine.
